PMUY a boon for womenfolk: Nirmal Singh

Kathua, June 4: During the second leg of his three days extensive tour of Billawar, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Dr. Nirmal Singh today distributed free LPG connections among beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Addressing a gathering of rural womenfolk, Nirmal Singh said that women comprise approximately 50% of our total population but their problem of dealing with smoke while cooking food using stove and other traditional bio mass fuels was realized by PM, Narendra Modi who envisaged this scheme to provide clean fuel to rural women which will help reduce health hazards caused due to cooking based on fossil fuel.
Dr. Singh also called for proper dissemination of information among the poor and villagers regarding various central and state sponsored welfare schemes so that they can reap timely benefits from these schemes
Later, the Speaker inaugurated a Community Hall at village Mandli which was constructed by the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.50 lakhs from MLA CDF and MGNREGA.
After inaugurating the community hall, Dr. Singh said that work is under progress for construction of CFC at Ramkote and Mela that will be completed very soon at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 crore to create durable asset for rural people thus meeting their long pending demand.
He further said to remove the issues of water and power scarcity during summers all PDD schemes were finalized and the requisite amount has been sanctioned to start the work any time soon. He announced that by the end of December 2018 every home will get quality power connection through DDUGJY and SAUBHAGYA schemes.
Earlier, Dr. Singh also inspected water supply scheme at Sukrala Mata Temple for meeting the requirement of increasing pilgrim flow to the temple during summer season and also kick started work of bore for the hand pump at the temple.
