PM publicly appreciates work done by Ministry of Northeast

ITANAGAR (ARUNACHAL PRADESH), Feb 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today publicly appreciated the work done by the Union Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in the last over three years.
Soon after the Prime Minister’s remark at a public programme addressed by him here today, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh posted a Tweet saying, “Thanks Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji for your kind reference to work being done by Ministry of Northeast @mdoner_India. Your encouragement will add strength to our efforts and our commitment.”
Prime Minister made a special mention of the new initiative by the Ministry of Northeast, wherein each month, the DoNER Ministry holds its Camp Secretariat in one of the eight North Eastern States by rotation. He said, earlier, the DoNER Ministry simply sat in Delhi and worked, but now, things have changed. On – the- spot reviews are done and on- the- spot decisions are taken, he said. This approach of the DoNER Ministry has not only expedited the pace of various projects but also brought accountability, he added.
Narendra Modi said, there was a time when a Union Minister hardly visited Northeast, but today, every week there is a Union Minister visiting one or the other State in the region.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two building complexes brought up in the State capital here with funds from the Ministry of DoNER. The first one is the State Civil Secretariat built at a cost of Rs.92 crore, about which Modi said, this will improve the work environment and help in bringing all the major State offices under one roof. About the second complex, also funded by the Ministry of DoNER and named, “Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre”, Modi said, this will enable holding of large conferences and summits not only for the State, but also for trade and business promotion.
On the occasion, Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the academic block of the “Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences”. He also announced a bi-weekly train “Arunachal Express” from Delhi.
Complimenting the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Modi said, every Indian wakes up every morning to look towards Arunachal Pradesh because, that is from where the sunrise starts and thenspreads its light to the rest of the country.
