PM pays tribute to Deendayal Upadhyaya on death anniversary

NEW DELHI, Feb 11:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, one of the prominent leaders of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of the BJP and said his ideals continue to be a guiding force.
“I bow to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his Punya Tithi. His principles & ideals of serving society are our guiding force,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet. Born on September 25, 1916, Deendayal Upadhyaya breathed his last on February 11, 1968. In 1951, when Syama Prasad Mookerjee founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Deendayal Upadhyaya was also nominated to the party by the RSS.
Since coming to power in 2014, the Narendra Modi Government has named several welfare measures under Deendayal Upadhyaya’s name. (UNI)
