PM appealed to declare Karva Chauth, Bhai Dooj as holidays

JAMMU, Sept 30: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president Subash Shastri today appealed the Prime Minister to declare two most important festivals of Karva Chauth and Bhai Dooj as national holiday for women employees working in Central/State Governments under Negotiable Instrument Act.
In a memorandum sent to Narendra Modi, Shastri said that these festivals not only have a deep rooted cultural significance, but also symbols of women empowerment and by these Indian society has been recognizing the importance of womenfolk.
Pleading the cause of employees of the State Government /pensioners and sixty one thousand daily rated workers working in the various departments of the Government, Shastri urged PM to immediate grant Rs 9,000 crore of special budgetary package to ward off expenditure on regularization of nearly 61,000 daily rated workers working in various departments of the J&K State and also implementation of the 7th Pay Commission (PC) report in the State.
