Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum holds monthly meeting for highlighting demands, issues

JAMMU, Jan 21: The monthly meeting of District Udhampur unit of All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum was held here with Ashok Sharma, the District president of the Forum.
While deliberating in the meeting, the speakers raised various issues confronting the Plus 2 Cadre. They said the Sub offfice of the JKBOSE has been functioning headless for some time and facing shortage of other staff too with the result the work is suffering. They rued that remuneration bills of the Superintendents, Dy Superinte-ndents and Practical Examiners have not been cleared for a long time and there is widespread resentment in the Cadre against the Board. They demanded filling up of the vacancies of Deputy/Assistant Secretary and other cadres at the earliest and other officials of the Sub Office.
They also demanded that confidential material for the forthcoming examinations should be supplied at the Examination centres to avoid undue harassment of Superintendents, especially the female ones at the Police Station. Referring to the action taken by the Department against the teaching staff of Kashmir Division for showing poor result in the Board exams, the speakers said despite the Government’s assurance from time to time, that the teaching staff will not be deployed for jobs, other than their primary duty of teaching, many Lecturers, Masters and teachers continue to be deployed in various offices, thus adversely affecting the teaching learning activities in the schools.
They added that this year the academic activities remained severely affected in the schools due to the conduct of Local Body elections and Panchayat elections. Moreover many schools, especially falling in rural and farflung areas are facing acute shortage of staff and surprisingly trainings of teaching staff are being conducted at the peak of Academic session, they added and explained that under such circumstances it is difficult for the teachers, show good result.
The Forum demanded that trainings be invariably conducted during summer/winter breaks and schools be provided adequate staff, which must not be deployed for jobs other than teaching so that academic activities are carried out smoothly and result percentage is enhanced.
Among those, who addressed the meeting, included Ashok Sharma, Arunesh Kumar, Rakeshwar Sharma, Luxmi Kant, Sudesh Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Amrit Lal, Ravi Kanchan and others.
