PLS screens 3 short Punjabi films of RS Wazir, Gurpreet

JAMMU, Aug 11: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu today organized a function for screening of three short Punjabi films by R S Wazir and his son Gurpreet Wazir at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
The function was arranged to honour R S Wazir for his contribution as producer in the field of tele- films and short films.
Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister was the chief guest on the occasion while Arvinder Singh Amn, additional secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was the guest of honour. A large number of intellectuals, writers, artists, theatre and film personalities attended the function.
Three short Punjabi films namely “Nithaven Ko Thaon” (an awarded film), “Karma” (made in Australia) and “Fateh Sirhand Baba Banda Singh Bahadur” were shown to the audience present in the theatre.
Welcoming the dignitaries and guests, Dr Monojit Singh, president of PLS Jammu, highlighted the activities of the Sabha and its future plans. He said through his films whether tele- films or short films, RS Wazir has brought to the fore many important issues and facts that were not exposed to the general public.
Kavinder Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, recited a poem on Banda Singh Bahadur. He emphasized that the teachings of Sikhism should be followed. He also informed that soon a statue of Banda Singh Bahadur will be installed at Kunjwani Chowk.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn said that Punjabi Lekhak Sabha is actively advancing to expand its sphere of events. He said that it’s a matter of pleasure that PLS has selected some of the genuine contributors in the society and are honouring them at Abhinav Theatre in the presence of a large number of intellectuals which is in itself an additional honour for the honoured ones.
R S Wazir was presented a bouquet, shawl and citation on this occasion. The citation was read out prior to its presentation to Wazir.
