JAMMU, Mar 19: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu today released a Punjabi book titled ‘Monojit Da Vyang Sansaar’, compiled and edited by Dr Darya, during a function held here at KL Saigal Hall of Cultural Academy.
The book is based on Research Papers on literary works of Dr Monojit, who was recently declared as Best Book Award winner- 2016 by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu for his satire short story collection titled ‘Sabhey Gallan Khotiyan’.
Dr Darya, Punjabi Department, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the chief guest and Dr Sukhdev Singh Khahra, presided over the function. Dr Monojit, Dr Baljit Kaur, Dr Baljit Raina and Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik also shared the dais.
Papers reflecting on the works of Dr Monojit and various aspects in creating the literary works were read out by Dr Pritam Singh. A paper on the book ‘Monojit Da Vyang Sansaar’ was read out by Dr Sahib Singh. The papers gave a detailed introduction about the technique, style and theme of the award winning book and the book released during the function.
Dr Monojit was also honoured on the occasion. Speaking on this occasion, Dr Darya shared his views on the works of Dr Monojit and said that his writing is relevant in all the times. He discussed the current issues and their impact on the writers.
Dr Khahra in his presidential address, said satire is quite a difficult way to deal with serious issues in the lighter veins. He further added that the actual writer drills deep into the concerns with him and drains out the output in the form of literary works.
Dr Baljit Kaur, Dr Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Dr Paramjit Singh Meesha and Dr Monojit also expressed their views.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Baljit Singh Raina and the vote of thanks was extended by Jang S Verman.
