PLS conducts special ‘Kavi Darbar’

JAMMU, Jan 22: In its fortnightly literary meet, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu organized a special Kavi Darbar to celebrate the declaration of Best Book Award- 2016 in favour of Dr Monojit by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Literature for his satire work ‘Sabhey Gallaan Khotiayn’ in Punjabi.
Dr Monojit is the executive member working as Treasurer in the Sabha. S Kanwal Kashmiri, a noted writer from J&K and S Jang S Verman, a well known columnist on art & culture and artist, were present in the presidium.
The poets who presented their poetry include Piara Singh Dhanjal, Rahi Simbalpuria, Suraj Singh Suraj, Baljit Raina, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik and Amar Singh Kuka. The poetry was presented in various poetic forms like lyrics, ghazal, song, etc dealing with different concerns.
Devinder Singh Vishavn-agrik, president, PLS, proposed to organize a special literary programme in the month of March, 2017 to felicitate Dr Monojit by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu. This was adopted by the members.
In his address, S Kanwal Kashmiri emphasized that more efforts need to be made by the writers to explore more possibilities in respect of creative literature being created in Punjabi, in this region of the country.
Jang S Verman shared his experiences while working in the field of art and writing in the light of the possibilities that could be approached in both the fields. The proceedings of the meet were conducted by Dr Monojit.
