Pilgrim injured in accidental gun shot

KATRA, Nov 2:  In an accidental air gun shot, a Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrim from West Bengal was injured at Nav Devian Temple on Katra-Reasi road where he had gone to pay obeisance, here today.
The pilgrim, identified as Ajay Singh (30), son of Durga Singh, resident of West Bengal, sustained splinter injury on his thigh and he was immediately shifted to hospital.  Though condition of the injured pilgrim was stated to be stable, doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu for advanced treatment.
According to SDPO Katra, Dr Ashok Sharma, the air gun shot was fired by a security guard to disperse monkeys inside the temple premises and splinter accidentally hit the pilgrim, whose condition is stable.
On the request of pilgrim, Police has also not registered any case in this connection, he added.
