DODA, Aug 21: Police arrested a pickpocket and recovered stolen cash from his possession.
As per police sources, on August 19 this year, a complaint was filed by Bashir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman Malik of Manjmi Bhagwah District Doda with Police Post DH Doda stating that one unknown person has stolen Rs 15000 from his pocket, when he was purchasing a blanket from Sunday Market at Bus Stand here.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 146/18 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a number of suspects were rounded up and after watching the CCTV footage, one habitual pickpocket was arrested and Rs 15000 stolen cash was recovered from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Pervaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani, a resident of Akramabd District Doda.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post DH Doda SI Firdos Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Doda Inspector Manjeet Singh and DySP Headquarters Doda Iftkhar Ahmed.
