PHEEA demands separate head for daily wagers

UDHAMPUR, Dec 4: Water Works (PHE) Employees Association Udhampur held executive body meeting of both the districts of Udhampur and Reasi at PHE Complex here under the chairmanship of Rattan Singh, senior vice president of the association for Udhampur district.
The meeting criticized the attitude of the State Government towards the workers who have not been paid their wages for the past 36 to 40 months, which has made the life of daily rated workers worst than hell. The senior vice president of the association appealed the State Finance Minister for a separate Head in the grant of funds for all type of daily rated workers, so that their families may not starve.
They also raised various other long pending demands which included; Implementation of Minimum Wages Act; Immediate regularization of workers; Revision of sanctioned strength of the department, as there was no revision of sanctioned strength of field functionaries of the department for the past 40 years; Meeting shortage of staff to effectively man the on-going water supply schemes; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by the workers; Payment to those engaged in lieu of land donation; Release of 6% DA installment to employees and workers from July 2015; and Enhancement in daily wage rate to Rs 150 to Rs 400.
Rattan Singh appealed all the associations of PHE Department to unite and be ready for agitation as State Government was not willing to fulfill genuine demands of the employees and workers of the Department.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Suraj Parkash, Makhan Chand, Krishan Lal, Parth Singh, Shambu Ram, Lakshman Chand, Rakesh Kumar, Sham Lal etc.
