PHE workers stage protest demonstration at CE office

JAMMU, Apr 17:  The PHE workers  today held protest  demonstration at PHE complex BC Road here today.
A large number of PHE employees and workers under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association ( Jammu province), led by its president Bakshi Singh and general secretary Subhash Verma  assembled at PHE complex, outside Chief Engineer’s office  in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their  pending demands.   They alleged that that State Government has miserably failed to arrange the wages of the PHE daily rated workers.
While addressing the workers Bakshi Singh and Subhash Verma said that employees had suspended  the strike on March 1st, 2017  after the assurance by the State Govt particularly the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, given to the employees leadership during negotiation.   They alleged that Govt has betrayed the poor  and helpless workers.
They alleged that non-serious approach of the Government towards the issues of the workers is leading to the confrontation. There is strong  resentment among the workers  and they have been feeling cheated every time. Their families are facing starvation and studies of their children are also badly hit due to non-payment of  their wages. They claimed that it is prime duty of the Government to provide wages to the workers and it denying them wages after work is criminal act and grave violation of human rights.
They warned the Govt to release the  wages of these employees and address their other pending  issues of get ready to face indefinite agitation. Senior trade unionists Bansi Lal, Davinder Singh, Mohd Shafi, Chuni Lal, Surjit Singh and others also addressed the gathering.
