PHE workers stage protest

Excelsior Correspondent

POONCH, Jan 5: PHE workers held strong protest demonstration at  their office complex, Mendhar town in support of their long pending demands.
The PHE daily wagers, mostly including land donors for the PHE stations/uphill water tanks, assembled at PHE Sub Divisional office Mendhar today and started protest demonstration. They were demanding release of the wages pending for the last about three years and regularization of their services.
The local Union leader Iftikhar Ahmed was leading the protest. He alleged that temporary PHE workers are struggling since long. Their families are facing starvation while the Government has failed to release their wages. He demanded that Government should regularize the services of the workers as they have offered more than 10  to 15 years of service and even more. He said many people offered their lands for PHE pumping stations and over head and ground water tanks with the commitment of job to one of the members but Government failed to honour its commitment. It is  only exploiting the innocent public.
