PHE workers seek release of wages, threaten to stop work

UDHAMPUR, Jan 10: PHE workers have threatened to stop work if their pending wages were not released by the concerned authorities.
In a large rally organised by Water Works (PHE) Employees Association at Majalta in district Udhampur today, the members projected the issues of temporary/ casual and other workers of the department and stressed upon the higher authorities to address their issues.
The rally was held under the leadership of Vijay Sharma, district general secretary and a large number of workers from Khoon, Manwal, Battal, Mansar, Kishanpur, Dema and Thial areas participated in it.
The rally passed through the main market of Majalta raising slogans in support of their demand. They were demanding release of their pending wages for the last 38-40 months. They warned to stop work if their wages were not released by the department within one month.
Later, they moved to the office of Tehsildar Majalta and submitted a memorandum to him for the Govt. They also demanded regularization of temporary/ casual/ need based workers, implement Minimum Wages Act, remove shortage of staff, hold DPC meet and implement 7th Pay Commission report.
Besides, Vijay Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Balbir Singh and Prabh Dayal also addressed the gathering.
