Hundreds of the workers of the department took to streets here at Lal Chowk and tried to march toward Civil Secretariat.
Police forces blocked their way but the agitating workers persisted to go forward. In the milieu, police used lathis on the workers and injured dozens of them.
A number of workers were also detained by the police.
The agitating workers have been demanding regularisation, saying they have been working in the department on meagre monthly remuneration.

Later, the workers sat on a dharna outside Kothibagh police station, demanding the police to release their co-workers.
On Friday, the workers entered the Civil Secretariat and held an anti-Government protest demonstration, demanding their regularization.
