PHE workers’ body seeks release of pending wages

JAMMU, Feb 19: Water Works (PHE) Employees Association has urged upon the higher authorities in the department to clear all the pending wages of the workers , announce clear policy of their regularization and implement Minimum Wages Act for the consolidated/ temporary workers.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma, the state president of the Association and INTUC J&K and president of the main speakers strongly criticized the State Government for causing delay in releasing their wages and framing policy for the regularization of daily wagers, casual and consolidated workers.
The trade union leaders also discussed the burning issues of the temporary and other workers. They also demanded that DPC of all cadre in the department, repair of duty rooms, pumping houses and chowkidar quarters/ huts etc and provision of some infrastructure/ furniture there. They said that workers are without wages for the last more than thirty five months and their families are facing starvation.
Shiv Kumar demanded that Govt should announce clear cut policy for the regularization of PHE daily rated, casual and need based/ CP workers besides release of all the pending wages without any more delay.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included, Som Nath, Ajay Sharma, Raman Kumar, Chain Singh, Mohd Akram, Munshi Ram and Tahir Shawl.
