JAMMU, Sept 30: The 2 day Roller Skating Competition sponsored by Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department  as part of Nation Wide fortnightly Sanitation Campaign ” Swachhta hi Sewa” concluded here last evening.
The chief guest at the valedictory function Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary congratulated the participants for becoming the part of flagship clean India campaign.
The MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, Chief Engineer PHE Ashok Gandotra, representatives of J&K State Sports Council, representatives of Youth Services Sports besides senior players of Roller skating in large number were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister congratulated all the participants of the sports event for spreading the message of Swachata hi Sewa and making it a grand success. He informed the gathering about swachhta abhian and appealed them to actively participate in making Jammu city neat and clean and realize the dream of clean India.
The aim of the campaign “Swachhta Hi Sewa” is to reinforce the concept of ‘sanitation is everyone’s business,’ besides re-energizing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by intensifying focus on cleanliness through mass participation.
On the occasion, Minister felicitated skaters Arjun Gandotra, Tarun Gandatro, Joshpal Singh, Jasmeet Singh, Ajeet Singh, Dixit Gupta, Abhinav Gupta, Sahil Gupta for bringing laurels to the state as they were part of the 16 member team which represented India in various competitions.
Super senior players who represented the state as well as country at national and international level and brought laurels to the state in the field of Roller Skating Sports were also honoured and awarded with life time achievement award.
Appreciation certificates were also given to all the students who participated in this two day roller skating event.
Sports persons who represented India in Rollball championship namely Hiteshwar Singh, Rakshak Jandail, Ankita Chopra and Gupta were also honoured on the occasion.
