JAMMU, Jan 10: Secretary PHE, I&FC Department, Jammu, M Raju today visited the water treatment plant ‘Sitlee’ to take stock of water supply being provided to Jammu city.
Superintending Engineer (Mech), Urban Circle Jammu, Executive Engineer Civil and Executive Engineer (Mech), North, also accompanied the Secretary. They apprised the Secretary about the whole system of water supply from Sitlee which includes the intake structures for lifting of raw water, filtration treatment plants, pumping station and water testing laboratory.
The Secretary was also apprised about the difficulties being encountered due to change in the course of river Tawi and silting up of the pond in front of intakes and steps initiated to provide sufficient and uninterrupted water supply to Jammu city.
M Raju gave some valuable suggestions and also instructed the officer in-charge to ensure potable drinking water to the inhabitants being covered under the scheme. He also stressed for regular testing of water samples of whole city and move quarters.
