PHE Minister reviews water supply scenario in Jammu, Kathua, Samba

JAMMU, May 12: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary today reviewed the water supply scenario in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts at a meeting of senior functionaries of the department.
The Minister directed the concerned PHE division heads to activate field staff to ensure proper upkeep of equipments at all water installations to avoid breakdown of supply. He asked them to ensure that people may not face any problem with regard to water in the prevailing hot conditions.
He also asked the department to take up repairs and replacement of worn out pipes where ever necessary. He stressed on rationalization of supply to avoid public complaints from any area.
Reviewing water supply scenario in Jammu city, the Minister said that department may get   funds under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for further augmentation of water supply in the water stressed localities.
The Minister asked the Executive Engineer Kathua to start the laying of pipes in Kathua town for which Rs 15 lakh would be provided by the Chief Engineer.
