PHE employees discuss long pending demands

UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: Executive body meeting of PHE Employees Association for Udhampur and Reasi districts was held today at PHE Complex here under the chairmanship of Som Nath, vice president, PHE Employees Association, Jammu province.
While addressing Som Nath sought the intervention of the Chief Minister for getting released the wages of 20000 PHE workers of Jammu province. He said the Minister for PHE was putting in his best efforts for wages and regularization of workers but the matter relates to Finance Minister also.
Appealing the Chief Minister for intervention, Som Nath said that workers were facing starvation and demanded payment of their wages in one go and their monthly dues be provided to them regularly.
Association demanded that provision of new staff should be kept for new water supply schemes as crores of rupees are spent on schemes but the required number of workers is not recruited. It said if an early decision in this regard was not taken the supply system would collapse soon.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting pertained to change of designation as per nature of job being done by workers, holding of DPC meeting, benefit of SRO 64, conversion of CP workers as daily wagers, payment of wages of 82 workers engaged by PHE Department in May 2012 the amount of which stands released by Shrine Board authorities to XEn PHE Division Reasi and regularization of daily wagers who have been working for the past 15 years before going in fore direct recruitment on permanent  employees.
Others who addressed included Vijay Kumar, Rattan Singh, Subash Chander, Suraj Parkash, Baldev Raj, Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Shiv Lal, Barkat Ali, Chuni Lal, Bhart Singh, Luxman Singh, Charan Dass, Amardev Singhh, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh, Bansi Lal and Ved Parkash.
