PHE daily wagers to call off strike

JAMMU, June 4: The PHE daily wagers, CP and ITI workers will call off their strike tomorrow after the strike of  85 days.
The PHE Workers Union  after long meeting with the PHE Minister Sham Choudhary, Chief Engineer PHE  and DIG Jammu-Kathua Samba Range , Ashkoor Wani today decided to  call off the agitation.
The PHE workers are  demanding their regularisation, release of pending wages and payment of their  regular salary. The minister during   the meeting at PWD Guest House Gandhi Nagar assured that separate head has been created so that they may get regular salary. Moreover, verification process has been started and their biometrics are being taken for framing policy for their regularization. The pending wages will also be cleared in phased manner.  He gave July 27 deadline to clear biometric process.
President of the PHE workers Union Tanveer Hussain said that on the assurance of the minister, they may call off their agitation tomorrow. The minister has assured to visit the dharna site tomorrow with senior officers at Chief Engineers’ office and they will call off their agitation with written assurance that Govt  will complete biometric ( step I) process to frame policy for their regularization.
