JAMMU, Aug 19: Strongly advocating for passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill in the coming session of State Assembly, Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) the nodal organization for Bill today said that those opposing its passage have vested interests.
Talking to reporters here today,  spokesperson of the Trust, Dr R L Bhat along with other KP leaders said that in many States of country like Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttrakhand such Bills have already been passed for protection of religious places of Hindus and no hue and cry was made in these States.
“Some selected people oppose the Bill as they apprehend that they will lose control over the temple and shrines’ land and property while the majority of Hindus are in favour of its passage”, said Dr R L Bhat.
He, said that some of these trusts have already sold the land belonging to temples and shrines of Kashmir when they have no such authority. The Trust can provide a documental evidence for the same, he added.
Allaying fears Dr Bhat said with passage of the Bill the control of  shrines and temples will not  lie in the hands of the Government and there would be no interference in the pooja of Sadhus in these temples as alleged by some people but the doors of more temples will be opened for pooja.
He said KPs don’t want to make these shrines and temples their personal property with the formation of Board but pilgrims from all over country can visit these religious places.
