RAJOURI, Jan 2: The villagers and students from Saj Bagla village today came to the Thannamadi town and held protest demonstration near tehsil complex.
They also blocked the road for about an hour and disrupted the movement of traffic. The villagers alleged that Zonal Education Officer concerned has merged the Govt Primary School Saj Bagla with the Govt High school Mangota which is about 7 kms away from this village. The strength of this Primary school is nearly 30 and one teacher is posted there.
They alleged that despite strong protest by the local public, ZEO shifted this school to Mangota and small children of Bagla are facing lot of problems. For the last one month this school is lying closed and children are not going to other school which is far away.
Then SDM Abdul Qayoom Mir came to them and he talked to ZEO and then CEO Rajouri on the issue. Then a committee was framed to visit the Primary School Bagla and check the actual strength. The SDM assured to the people that if the strength will be 25-30, the school will not be shifted. Then they suspended their protest.
