JAMMU, Feb 27: A large number of people tonight held a protest and ransacked Community Health Centre (CHC) RS Pura over death of a woman due to alleged negligence of doctors.
According to the reports, a woman identified as Parveen Kour wife of Subhash Kumar, resident of RS Pura, was shifted to CHC RS Pura at about 2 PM today with complaint of high blood pressure by the family members, where after providing initial treatment doctors referred her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu at about 4.30 PM. However, on reaching GMCH Jammu, the woman was declared as brought dead by the doctors there.
Later at about 8 PM, about 100-150 people including family members, relatives and neighbours of the deceased woman reached CHC RS Pura and staged protest against the hospital authorities with body of the deceased lying on the ground. The protesting people also ransacked the furniture of the hospital and raised slogans against the hospital authorities
The protesting people alleged that the woman died due to negligence of the doctors at CHC RS Pura, who delayed in referring the deceased woman to GMCH Jammu. “As doctors at CHC RS Pura had referred her to GMCH Jammu timely, her life could be saved”, they maintained and demanded enquiry into the matter.
On getting information, officers of police and civil administration including SDPO RS Pura, Surinder Choudhary, SHO RS Pura, Inspector Bhushan Manhas and SDM RS Pura, Susheel Kumar, reached the spot and pacified the protesting people by giving assurance of enquiry into their allegations. Thereafter, the protestors dispersed with the body.
