RAJOURI, Sept 28: The people from Nagrota village and adjoining areas held protest demonstration near Palma and blocked Rajouri-Budhal Road for about an hour today.
The people came out on the road during mid-day and started strong protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the PDD Minister (DyCM) Dr Nirmal Singh, Chief Engineer and other Rajouri based officers of the department for their alleged failure to provide adequate power supply to the people of the area.
They alleged that due to unscheduled long power cuts, people of the area were badly suffering while department continued to sent hefty bills to the consumers. They also alleged that transformers remain out of order for weeks together and field staff fails to replace for long. There is no accountability at all and the field staff asks villagers to shift the damaged transformers to the workshops. The protesting villagers disrupted the movement vehicles for about an hour. Later, with the intervention of SHO and Tehsildar concerned the road could be restored.
