JAMMU, Dec 27: The residents of Patta Paloura and adjoining areas of Jammu West Assembly Constituency held protest against the JDA’s order to allot 200 years old Shishu Smadhia land located near police check post Paloura, Akhnoor Road.
Amid slogans, large number of people led by youth leader Rajveer Singh blocked the vehicular movement on the ever bust Jammu-Akhnoor highway.
Large contingent of police also reached the spot and tried to pacify the protesters. Some scuffle also took place between police and protesters. Police also detained some persons, but released them later after mounting pressure of local people.
Addressing the gathering, Rajveer Singh revealed that this 200-years-old Shishu Samdhia was specially meant for the burial of children. This is a common Hindu religious property shared by a large number of residents of adjoining areas, he said, adding that it is strange to note that this religious property has been allotted by the JDA Department.
After getting information, MLA Sat Sharma reached the spot and instructed the ADC Jammu Arun Manhas that there should be no construction work on the Shishu Smadhias land until the JDA cancels the allotment order.
People served 15 days ultimatum to MLA Sat Sharma to get this order cancelled, failing which a massive protest will be lodged by them.
Among others present were Jagbhushan Thapa, Suneet Singh Wazir, Jeet Singh, Arun Magotra, CM Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Pandit Mela Ram, Sangeeta Devi, Darshana Devi, Manohar Lal, Advocate Ashok, Chaman Lal, Onkar Nath Sharma, Pandit Bakshi, Nathi Khajuria, Mohit, Akshay, etc.
