RAMBAN, Feb 28: Large number of people held protest at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Khari against non-availability of staff.
Amid slogans, hundreds of people drawn from various areas of Khari assembled at PHC Khari and held protest. During protest, the business establishments remained closed.
The protesters decry the Health Department for not checking the availability of the doctors and para medical staff in PHC.
The protest was led by Mufti Ataullah, Mohammad Ayub Lone, Block President of PDP, Mohammad Yasin Shimant, President Khari Market and Qualam Qadir, Ex-Sarpanch, Khari.
One of the protesters said that a person identified as Nazam Din (55), son of Akber of Kundan received heart attack and was rushed to PHC Khari.
Due to non-availability of doctors and para medical staff, the patient was shifted to Sub District Hospital Banihal and later referred to a hospital in Srinagar, but he died on the way.
The protesters were demanding action against the doctors and para staff posted at PHC Khari and appointment of dedicated staff in the centre, so as to save precious lives.
After getting information, Tehsildar Khari, SDM Banihal and CMO Ramban rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters by assuring strict action against the PHC staff.
On the assurance, the protesters dispersed.
Meanwhile, Additional Assistant Development Commissioner Ramban Ravinder Sadhu attached BMO Ukhral Dr Hamil Bora with Chief Medical Officer, Ramban in view of dereliction of duties, lack of supervisory role on his part and wide spread resentment and protests by the public of Tehsil Khari. In the meantime, the charge of the BMO Ukhral has been entrusted to BMO Banihal till further orders.
