People protest against Kathua police, block road

KATHUA, Dec 6: The residents of Parliawand Ward No 10, 11, 12 Kathua held protest against the district police and blocked the Parliawand road for one hour this evening.
The protesters in large number held protest and raised slogans against Kathua police for its failure in arresting the three accused involved in murder attack on Ramesh Kumar on November 14 who succumbed to his injuries today at a hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab.
The protesters criticized the working of Kathua police and said that if Kathua police failed to secure his informer, how could be a common man feel safe. They alleged that  Ramesh Kumar,  son of Prab Dayal residents of Ward No 12, Kathua was fighting against the drug abuse and supporting the police and shared the information of drug mafia movement.
The drug mafia came to know about his working and attacked him on November 14 evening with sharp edged weapons besides throwing acid on him at Parliawand Kathua.
He was shifted to GMC Jammu and then to Ludhiana Hospital in critical condition. But he succumbed to his injuries today. The protesters alleged that despite the passing of 23rd days the Kathua police not even arrested a single accused who are moving freely.
The Dy SP Kathua, SS Sambyal and SHO Anil Kumar reached the spot and tried to pacify the people. They sought the time of five days to arrest the absconding accused behind the murder.
