People protest death of man due to negligence of doctors

JAMMU, Jan 19 : Some members of Oil Tankers’ Association along with the family members and relatives of a helper of an Oil Tanker, who expired yesterday at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, following a road accident at Jhajjar Kotli, today staged a protest demonstration here at BC Road near Shakuntla, alleging negligence of doctors of the hospital.
The deceased identified as Rakesh Kumar (28) son of Krishan Lal, resident of Dansal, had received serious injuries on January 13 when he accidentally fell from his moving Oil Tanker at Dansal area falling within the jurisdiction of police station Jhajjar Kotli. Yesterday evening, he expired at GMCH Jammu.
Alleging that the man died due to negligence of doctors, about 50-60 people including members of Oil Tanker’s Association and family members and relatives of the deceased today assembled at BC Road near Shakuntla and raised slogans against doctors and administration of GMCH Jammu. They demanded inquiry into the matter.
The protesting people also disrupted vehicular traffic for about 15-20 minutes but later after the intervention of police they dispersed.
Meanwhile, according to a spokesman of GMCH, the Principal, Medical College Jammu has already constituted a 4-member committee comprising senior doctors to inquire into the allegations of the family members of the deceased.
