UDHAMPUR, Jan 24: To lodge their protest against the blockade of village lane by Army,   villagers of Kamti, Chdali, Kanti, Khtreadi and Bikram Colony today held a strong protest demonstration.
Shouting slogans, the agitating villagers blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Vikram Bridge near Chopra Shop and staged a dharna there.
They explained that main lane to their villagers falls in Army area, where a gate has been installed.  For the last three days, Army has kept the gate closed for general public thus causing great inconvenience to the villagers.
Further, they added, due to closure of the gate, some villagers are virtually locked in their houses while some others are forced to stay out of their houses. The Army is not allowing even school and college students to cross the gate, the villagers said and alleged some foul play in the issue.
After getting the information the protest, Army officials and SHO Reambal, Rakesh Singh rushed to the spot and pacified the protester by assuring that the problem would be solved.
