JAMMU, July 10: Vehicular traffic on the RS Pura- Jammu road at Karan Bagh was disrupted for   several hours  as people from Bhour Camp and Kullian area  blocked the road in protest against erratic supply of power and drinking water to them by the State Government.
At around 12 noon today, thelocal people of the area in large numbers came on the main road at Karan Bagh in  Gandhi Nagar constituency and started holding demonstration against unscheduled power cuts by PDD. Raising slogans against Deputy Chief Minister, the protesters alleged that there has been  no power supply to them for most of the time as apart from  unscheduled  power cuts, the department was resorting to its six hour scheduled power curtailment.
They were later joined by former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla who accused the BJP of betraying the people of Jammu who gave them the highest ever 25 seats in Legislative Assembly.
Angry public while protesting against the Government, especially against the public representatives (MLAs/ MLCs) and Ministers from Jammu region said that they are enjoying cool breeze at Srinagar and alleged that the Ministers from Jammu are not available and there was no body to listen to their grievances these days. They also alleged that their elected representatives are not available to listen to their grievances.
Talking to the protesters, Bhalla said that the erratic power supply was affecting the supply of drinking water to the people also in other areas of Jammu district making people come on the roads almost daily. What has been irking the people is that the government has been unable to supply them uninterrupted power even when 90 per cent of the households in Jammu District have been metered. Moreover, they feel let down especially when the concerned Ministers including DyCM  have miserably failed in addressing burning issues of people of Jammu region.
Hitting out at the ruling PDP-BJP  Government in the State, Bhalla accused them of callousness in providing basic facilities like drinking water, decent power supply and proper ration to the people of Jammu region.
Amrit Bali, Jagmohan Sharma, Bal Krishan, Dr Ramesh Sharma, Baldev Singh and  Gurbachan Kour were leading the protest.
