People protest against PMGSY, block road

POONCH, Dec 30: The people from Sanei Top and Lassana area today blocked Jammu-Poonch highway at Sanei near Surankote and held protest demonstration against PMGSY (R&B) authorities for non-completion of 6 kms road for the last six years.
At around 9 am today,  a large number of villagers from Lassana and adjoining areas and Sanei Top gathered at main Sanei village and blocked Jammu-Poonch road near  Surankote. They raised barricades on the busy highway and sat on dharna. They shouted  slogans against Chief Engineer  PMGSY Jammu, R&B Minister and PDP-BJP Coalition Govt.
The protesting villagers alleged that 6 kms road length from Senai to Lassana Top  was approved under PMGSY and the work was started about six years back. The cutting and some more allied works were completed but thereafter, this road was abandoned by the concerned authorities. This road was never black topped or even further repaired after damages during rainy season. The people of this area are facing lot of hardships.
The movement of vehicles on this busy highway came to halt. Even many Army vehicles were also got trapped in the long traffic jam on both sides of the highway.
Later, SDPO Surankote, Riaz Tantray and Tehsildar, Mehmood Khan reached the spot and they assured the people to take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner, Poonch and Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu. The people then lifted dharna at around 11.30 am and allowed movement of vehicles.
