NOWSHERA, Sept 29: The people from Qila Darhal and adjoining areas today held protest demonstration at the block headquarters Darhal against the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Health Minister Bali Bhagat for lack of medical facilities in the area and also shortage of doctors at Nowshera hospital.
The villagers were raising slogans against State Government, State Health authorities and the Chief Minister. They alleged that there was shortage of doctors in CHC Nowshera and no Gynaecologist is available in the hospital despite the fact that two posts are sanctioned in this Sub-Divisional Hospital. An Ayurvadic doctor is serving as Gynaecologist in OPD of CHC Nowshera and she always check and refer the pregnant patients to Sunderbani or Jammu. A large population of the area is suffering while concerned Legislators are least bothered.
They maintained that a few years ago, some senior doctors were transferred prematurely from this hospital. Thereafter, no initiative was taken to post some other medicos in this hospital. They warned to block National Highway at Nowshera if the Medical staff was not posted there within two weeks.
The people said that matter was also brought to the notice of MLA Ravinder Raina and also the MLC from PDP, Surinder Choudhary but the issue could not be resolved.
The villagers Ashok Kumar, Isher Singh, Janak Singh, Mohd Riaz and Mukhtar Chowdary alleged that Coalition Government has totally failed to ensure development in Nowshera constituency. They said the issues of minorities are also not being proper taken up by the concerned public representatives. They also demanded that healthcare facilities be improved in Qila Darhal area.
