IMPHAL (MANIPUR), Feb 24: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the people of Manipur are yearning for change and are keen to have a Government which is capable of working in tandem with the Modi Government at the Centre.
Continuing his election campaign for the forthcoming Assembly Polls in the State, Dr Jitendra Singh, while addressing a series of meetings at Wangoi and Wabagai, said that from the kind of warmth, enthusiasm and positive response that he has received from the people during his campaign in the State, he has become increasingly confident that the people of Manipur have made up their mind to get rid of one-and-a-half decade long Congress rule and usher in a new era inspired by the Modi dynamics currently sweeping the entire country.
Amidst repeated applause from people, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Congress Party is faced with prospects of imminent extinction and the moment BJP Government takes over in Manipur, most of the erstwhile Congress-men will also come and join its cadres.
Citing figures, Dr Jitendra Singh said, during the last two-and-a-half years, the Modi Government and the Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) had undertaken number of such initiatives which actually should have been done by the State Government, but, he said, since the State Government and the Ministers are preoccupied in filling their own coffers, the Central Government under Prime Minister Modi has come forward in the interest of the common man. For example, he said, under NLCPR of the Ministry of DoNER, three hospitals were funded at districts Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong.
Not only this, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Ministry of DoNER has undertaken the task of setting up veterinary hospitals in nine districts in the education sector also, he said, a model residential Government school was set up recently in Jiribam in district Imphal East and an International Students’ Hostel has been set up in Manipur University Campus at Imphal. Similarly, in keeping with the spirit of Modi Government’s policy to reach out to the weaker sections, he said a Scheduled Tribe hostel has been set up in Chandel district.
Responding to the questions by media persons about the protracted blockade leading to hardship to the people in the State, Dr Jitendra Singh said, this situation is also an outcome of politicking by the Congress Government which has always tried to look for political games by dividing the society. Once the BJP Government takes over, he assured, there will be absolute peace in the State because every section of society and every region will get justice and fair play without any discrimination.
