UDHAMPUR, Jan 18 : Large number of people led by MLA Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia blocked National Highway alleging that inefficient and apathetic administration led by District Development Commissioner Yasha Modgal has deliberately delayed the compensation to those whose houses were damaged due to rains.
Addressing the huge gathering, Mankotia said that District Development Commissioner Udhampur has proved to be an ineffective and inefficient administrator who is adding to the woes of the common masses. He said hundreds of affected families are forced to live under open sky due to non-disbursement of compensation to rebuild the houses. He said that past over six months the files of relief have been shuttling between various offices without any result while the State Government has released adequate funds for the disbursement.
Mankotia said that under the present District Development Commissioner, Udhampur city has turned into a stinking city with garbage littered all around, no official is found in his office and the district administration has been rendered defunct.
He strongly condemned the apathetic attitude of the DDC and officer under his command towards the problems of the common masses.
