This has reference to the news item ‘2.1 lakh people await pension’ DE Jan 11, 2017. At a time when prices of essential items and medicines are sky-rocketing one does not know how to manage home affairs if one is dependent on pensionary benefits.
The Social Welfare Department must manage money, and distribute the same among needy without letting them wait for unspecified time. Though, the concerned Ministry has explained the cause of delay, it must pursue the matter vigorously with the concerned authorities.
There is also need to streamline the Anganwari sector. The employees of this department have, most of the times, resorted to agitational means to get their salary. Usually, they get their dues after three or four months.
This should not happen with them time and again. They should get their salary at par with other State employees on regular basis. They should not be forced to go on strikes etc. This way it affects the working of the department.
