Pensioners’ welfare Govt’s priority, moral responsibility: CS

JAMMU, Dec 17: Chief Secretary B B Vyas attended 34th National Pensioners’ Day Func-tion organized by Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA), and interacted with the pensioners and senior citizens, here today.
On the occasion, Chief Secretary also launched Sujok Therapy Clinic at Day Care Centre for senior citizens at CGHS Wellness Centre, Exhibition Ground, Jammu- a joint initiative of the Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association, J&K Jammu and Kesar Anirudh Rukmani Memorial Foundation, Dehradun.
Chief Secretary said that National Pensioners’ Day gives an opportunity for highlighting, recognizing the concerns relating to pensioners’ welfare and on this day all members of the society particularly those who are associated with the welfare of the pensioners need to come together and address these issues in a collaborative manner.
He further assured the pensioners that their issues will be taken up and discussed for early redressal. “There are certain areas where the Government and the administration can come in and sincere efforts will be put in to realize the objective of pensioners’ welfare”, he added.
The function was attended by a large number of association members and eminent social activist.
President CGPWA, S.S. Wazir presented welcome address and highlighted the salient features of the Association along with its future plans and a brief background of the Pensioners’ Day.
Prof Kewal Krishan Sharma, a retired scientist, researcher, social activist and Sujok practitioner of Kesar Karm Foundation, VP Sharma, Patron and noted Geologist & Environmentalist also spoke on the occasion. Retd. Secretary and Member, J&K PSC, K. B. Jandial conducted the proceedings.
Among others, former Chief Vigilance Commis-sioner, Kuldeep Khoda, Retired Major General G S Jamwal, President State Pensioner Association I D Soni, Secretary State Pensioners Association S C Rekhi and office bearers of CGPWA were present on the occasion.
