Pensioners for settlement of long pending demands

JAMMU, Jan 6: State Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Forum (SP&SCWF) in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its State president, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani urged the Government to settle the long pending demands of the pensioners without any delay.
The meeting, which among others was addressed by senior vice president, Pran Nath Raina and provincial president, Jammu, Comrade Baldev Raj Sharma demanded that the pensioners should be paid Rs 2000 as Medical Allowance per month and the allowance be increased on the pattern of Central Government pensioners.
The meeting also demanded that during travel and while going for treatment in hospitals special concession should be given to pensioners. Besides, the Government should remove all the doubts among the pensioners about the Group Medical Insurance which was announced in September last year.
While commenting on Government decision to regularize the services of daily wagers, casual workers and other temporary employees after 10 years of service, they termed it an injustice with these hapless people who have been dodged right from 1994 and their wages were also not released for years together.
The meeting demanded immediate amendment in SRO 64 so that these employees get their due right. It demanded that wages be paid as per need base.
Haji Mohammed Sultan from Anantnag, Bashir Ahmed Dar secretary district Bandipora, M K Tickoo and  Shambo Nath Saproo, trade union leaders, Girdhari Lal and Krishan Lal also participated.
