JAMMU, Feb 15: A meeting of All J&K Pensioners Association was held here under the leadership of Mukand Lal Sharma, to discuss their demands.
Addressing the meeting, general secretary of the Association, Madan Lal Abrol said that pensioners and employees of the State Government have been struggling for last three years for implementation of 6th Pay Commission, but unfortunately the Government took no positive step in this direction. On the other hand, the Government enhanced the salary of Legislators with three times hike and perks amounting to Rs 90, 000 per month.
Moreover, the Government enhanced the medical allowance of Legislators from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, Abrol said, adding the attitude of the Government i.e, giving high priority to the Legislators and showing neglect to the pensioners and employees, is highly unethical and discriminatory.
He also highlighted that the Government released arrears worth Rs 10 lakh in one installment for MLAs and MLCs with effect from September 2009 whereas the employees and pensioners have been pushed to have arrears claim in five annual installment. This shows Government’s priority concern for the welfare of MLAs and MLCs and discrimination with pensioners and employees.
The meeting asserted for release of 9% DA to State Government employees and pensioners besides adoption of one rank one pension on the lines of Defence Personnel. Enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month was also demanded in the meeting.
