Pedestrian dies in road mishap

JAMMU, Dec 29: A woman pedestrian was killed today in a road mishap in Bathindi area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the pedestrian identified as Jameela (50), wife of Ghulam     Nabi, resident of Anantnag (at present residing in Sunjuwan area of Jammu), was killed on the spot this evening when a speeding oil tanker bearing registration number JK02BD-5449 hit near BN College in Bathindi area.
He said that the body was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for postmortem while the concerned police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
“The driver of the tanker was also nabbed on the spot by the locals, who handed over the accused to police and he is now in police custody”, the police official said, adding, oil tanker was also seized.
