PDP, NC strike common chord on dynasty politics: Vakil

JAMMU, Jan 8: Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today accused the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) of striking a common chord on promoting dynasty politics.
In his sharp reaction to the joining of Tasaduq Mufti, the son of PDP patriarch and former Chief Minister late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, on the first death anniversary of his father, Vakil said joining of Tasaduq, a cinematographer by profession, shows that the ruling PDP has struck a common chord with opposition National Conference which has the dubious distinction of having allowed three generations of Abdullahs’ to occupy the party presidency and as well as the Chief Ministership.
Saying that like Abdullahs’ of National Conference, the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has brought her brother Tasaduq Mufti to the forefront obviously to project him as the future leader of the party and an aspirant for the Chief Ministership in future.
Calling upon the politicians of all hues to support his fight against the dynasty politics and family rule in Jammu & Kashmir, Vakil said, “dynasty politics is on rise in both PDP and National Conference. Too many people of a single family are holding coveted positions in the Government today and this is what we saw during the reigns of National Conference. Top leaders both within the PDP and National Conference are projecting their sons, daughters and sons-in-law as candidates in next assembly elections”.
Vakil said time has proved their sons and daughters have proved inefficient while administering the State whether it was late Sheikh Abdullah’s son or his grand son or Late Mufti Mohammad Syeed’s daughter.
Asking people to lend support to his struggle against dynasty politics and family rule, Vakil said “dynasty politics is the mother of all evils in Jammu & Kashmir”.
