PDP MLC, Ansari clash in Council

JAMMU, Jan 31: The Upper House of the State Legislature today witnessed a verbal clash between the PDP member Zaffar Iqbal Manhas and his own party Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports Imran Raza Ansari.
The issue generated heat when the minister for Technical Education was responding to the question and subsequent supplementaries of Sofi Yousuf, Surinder Mohan Ambardar and Saif-ud-Din Bhat. As hardly 2 minutes had been left for the `Question Hour’ to conclude, PDP legislator was apparently getting impatient as his question was at next serial number. He was expecting early conclusion of this question which was being dragged by other members through supplementaries.
A visibly agitated Manhas stood up from the chair and lodged protest with the Chairman as why so much of time was being consumed for just one question. He said for what the other members are sitting here if they are not provided opportunity to raise their issues. ” This is not the way”, he remarked and threw his papers with thrust on the table as mark of protest.
Ansari got furious over the behavior of his own party member and said why he was shouting so loudly when he was responding to the question of other members. Manhas stood up and said he was also responsible member of the House and has right to ask questions. It was followed by verbal spat between MLC and the Minister. Ansari warned that he will file suit against him for using defamatory words. Ansari asked member to mend his language and said he knew for what he was there in the House? Manhas also trained guns at the minister. The chairman and some ministers with repeated interventions managed to calm down the both.
