PDP Legislator demands deportation of Rohingyas

JAMMU, Sept 19: Expressing his concern over inordinate delay in deporting Rohingyas illegally staying  in Jammu, Member  Legislative Council (MLC) and senior leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Vikramaditya Singh today said that his consistent stand on immediate deportation of illegal Rohingya Burmese refugees stood vindicated after the written submission of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
In a statement issued here today, Singh said that on Monday, the Government of India in its affidavit in the Supreme Court not only called Rohingya refugees a threat to national security but also raised fears that the community could ultimately change the demographic profile of Indian States.
“Further, the Centre has also highlighted their links with terror organizations that has a direct bearing on Jammu & Kashmir”, Vikramaditya said and questioned under what provision of  law these illegal migrants are being allowed to settle in Jammu and avail benefits from the State.
He demanded that the State Government  should immediately deport illegal Rohingya refugees from Jammu. He said that people of Jammu region are unanimous in demanding deportation of these refugees living illegally in Jammu.
