PDP facilitating RSS rule in State: Shaheen

Excelsior Correspondent
BANIHAL, May 5: Hitting out at PDP for facilitating  direct RSS rule in Jammu and Kashmir, NC  leader  and district president Ramban Sajjad Shaheen  said  that  there is every apprehension of the BJP-led Government  (Centre)  conspiring  to trample the special identity of the State.
Addressing party functionaries and prominent party workers during inauguration of party’s new office at old bus stand Banihal today, Shaheen said that ruling PDP was created to “destroy” National Conference soon after the passage of the autonomy resolution in the J&K Assembly. It is necessary to think where from this `ink-pot party’  took the birth. The National Conference got the autonomy resolution passed in the Assembly and with in months this new party came to the fore. The aim was to destroy National Conference, but they could not succeed in their plan,” Shaheen said.
He said the people are being divided in the name of regions, religions, sects and groups. Referring to the challenge to Article 35-A, which empowers State Legislature to define permanent residents of J&K, in the Supreme Court,  Shaheen said, “Today we are facing a threat to our identity.”
Shaheen asked  party workers to start preparations for the next Assembly elections and strengthen the party at grassroots. “If we emerge as the single largest party, then only we can work in a better way,” he said.
Senior leaders Mirwaiz Atta Mohd Katoch, Mohd Afzal Wani, Saif- ud- Din Dar, Bahar Ahmed Naik, Mohd Afzal Khan, Haji GM Beigh, Gh Hassan Naik,  Abdul Ahad Shan, Mohd Khalil Sohil, Riyaz Ahmed Mir and Nisar Ahmed Sohil were also present.
