PDP to develop Poonch as tourist destination: MLC

POONCH, Sept 1: General secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Yash Pal Sharma (MLC) today assured the people that PDP would formulate a comprehensive vision document for the socio-economic growth of the neglected and backward areas like Poonch and Rajouri.
Addressing public meeting at Islamabad area of Poonch-Haveli assembly segment in support of party candidate Shah Mohammad Tantray, Sharma said that Poonch and Rajouri are focussed areas for PDP because successive National Conference governments have ignored these border mountainous belt. “We are committed to develop Poonch as a business hub”, he said.
The MLC said that PDP would develop Poonch as economic zone as well as tourist centre because this regime has huge tourism potential. He emphasized on the exploring tourism on Mughal road.
Sharma reminded the gathering it was only during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that Poonch and Rajouri were brought on the map of development. “Opening of cross LoC route and Mughal road would be proved as turning point for the socio-economic growth of this mountainous belt”, he said and hoped that in the days to come, Poonch will be developed as tourist destination.
Shahzad Khan, Shamim Dar, Amar Singh Josh, Bashir Ahmed Khaki, Peer Saif Din Tanveer Dar and others spoke on the occasion.
