SRINAGAR, Oct 5: National Confe-rence today reiterated its stand of fighting for the rights of the people against forces inimical to the unity and integrity of the State.
Addressing a review meeting at party headquarters here today for the upcoming State delegates’ convention in Srinagar later this month, Party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said, “Present dispensation of PDP-BJP combine has time and again proved that their interests lie only in keeping their ‘chair’ safe. The people of the State are going through miseries in terms of turmoil-ridden security scenario, massacres, non-availability of essential commodities etc but Government is hardly bothered about it. They have even forgotten to take into account the current spree of braid chopping incidents across the Valley and have failed miserably in assuaging the fears of general people particularly that of our mothers and sisters.”
The meeting also expressed a sense of deep disappointment over the casual and irresponsible attitude of the State Cabinet and the Chief Minister made evident by the fact that almost half of the State Cabinet gave the recently held Cabinet meeting a miss.
“This Government has shamelessly conceded the power of cabinet decisions to a select particular lobby. There is a thriving transfer industry operating outside the powers of the Chief Minister and the Cabinet”, meeting added.
“All the speakers congratulated the party leadership for taking the initiative of organizing a grand party convention after 15 years. Many issues concerning the party and its workers were raised in the meeting and appropriate decisions were taken to make the convention a grand success. In that direction all the constituency incharges were directed to make necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the convention,” the statement reads.
Among those who were present in the meeting included additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, state vice president Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzaan, Provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, chief spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, senior leaders Mian Altaf, Akbar Lone, Mubarak Gul, Mohd Syed Akhoon, Sakina Itoo, Ali Mohd Dar, MLAs Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi), Altaf Kaloo, Womens wing Provincial president Shameema Firdous, Irfan Shah, Javed Dar, Minority Cell Incharge Jagdish Singh Azad, Provincial president YNC Salman Ali Sagar, Mushtaq Guroo, Provincial spoke-sperson Imran Nabi Dar, Sabiya Qadri, Mudassir Shahmiri and others.
