PDP-BJP Govt not serious in solving public issues: Bhalla

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 29: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that BJP-PDP Government is not serious in resolving public issues and is befooling them with merely hollow slogans.
Addressing public meeting at Nai Basti in Gandhi Nagar here today, Mr Bhalla said that Coalition Govt should stop fooling the people of its ‘Jumlebazi’ and marketing and should start governing. Terming BJP’s complete failure to espouse Jammu centric matters, Bhalla regretted that Coalition Govt, particularly the BJP failed to ensure resolution of the burning issues of Jammu region in the current Assembly session including roll back of service tax on helicopter services to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
Taking a dig on the BJP for its political incompetence in the Coalition Govt, Bhalla said that imposing Service Tax on helicopter services availed by the pilgrims to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus all over the world. He said that the State Govt has bypassed the authority of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board headed by Governor of the State by interfering in the highly sensitive religious issue and imposing tax on the religious pilgrimage and the BJP is silent.
He demanded that the Government should direct the authorities at Lakhanpur to completely exempt the vehicles carrying any kind of goods for setting up `Langars’ during annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath ji, beginning July 2, from the purview of Toll Tax and Entry Tax. He also asked the Government to ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims and Langar sewadars.
Bhalla said that people crying for drinking water and reeling under unprecedented power curtailments in city areas, have fed up with fake assurances of concerned authorities and their representatives who have other priorities rather than addressing the water -power issues and have left people on the mercy of God besides most parts of constituency facing deprivation of ration supply.
