PDD workers’ indefinite strike enters 95th day

JAMMU, Mar 2:  The indefinite strike  and protest dharna of  the daily rated workers of Power Development Department (PDD)  entered the 95th  consecutive day here today.
The  daily rated, casual  and consolidated workers of  the PDD who are on the strike and sitting on dharna at Panama Chowk office of  the PDD ( M&RE) Circle -I  Jammu, are demanding their regularization, framing of new policy and release of their wages.
Under the leadership of Surjeet Khajuria, these workers  earlier started protest dharna at the office of Chief Engineer  PDD,  Canal Road and then shifted their venue to the office of SE, on Railway Road near Panama Chowk. They also held series of meetings with the Chief Engineer and SE PDD  EM&RE Circle.
Besides president, Khajuria, chairman of the All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union Bharat Bhushan, vice chairman Gurnam  Slathia and Ashwani Mehra, general secretary also addressed the gathering. They warned the higher authorities to intensify their agitation if the Government failed to address their pending issues. They also demanded to release seniority wise-list of the PDD workers of various cadre.
