JAMMU, June 7: All J&K Electric Department Linemen & Workers Union (Jammu) has expressed strong resentment against an order of the Chief Engineer PDD (M&RE) and demanded inquiry into the matter.
An emergency meeting of the Union was held here today under the leadership of Suresh Chand Andral (president), in which a large number of linemen and other workers of the PDD participated. The members pointed out that  there is strong resentment against an order/ letter No. CEJ/ Court/SRO-59/175-88 dated 04-06-2018  of  the Chief Engineer  (M&RE)  Jammu wing where in he has written to the Accountant  General J&K Jammu that the benefit of  SRO 59 had been granted through DPC is to be considered as valid, rest of the cases are illegal and void which has been granted promotion without DPC.
The Union said when there is clear provision as per Govt Order No. 78-PDD of 1995 dated 20-03-1995, read with Govt order  No. 270-PDD dated 6-8-1996, in which it was clearly  mentioned that the promotion be made only after availability of posts  and as per the designation system but the Department adopted pick and choose method and kept a wing aside. Those officers are responsible for any such violation.
The Union members while opposing this plea of the CE, urged upon the Govt to hold an inquiry into the matter and take action against the officers responsible for any violation or irregularity because the Accountant General is not considering many promotions.
TC Lakhotra, Vijay Gupta, Anil Singh, Ashiq Hussain, Suruinder Kumar, Kartar Nath and others also attended the meeting.
