PDD fails to implement ‘Ease of Doing Business Concept’: BBIA

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Feb 7: Bari Bra-hmana Industries Association (BBIA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president, Lalit Mahajan, here today.
During the course of discussions, the members present in the meeting raised their serious concern in respect of non implementation of ‘Ease of Doing Concept’ by the Power Development Department resulting in great inconvenience faced by the Industrial Units in respect of sanction of Power Loads, Permission for the Installation of DG Sets and other related matters of the Industrial Sector of J&K.
The members said that due to vested interests of some of the officials of the Power Development Department, the approval of the same is still pending, resulting into hardships faced by the Industrial Units as it will take long time for the sanction of the Power Load and permission for the Installation of DG Set.
The members alleged that the Power Development Commiss-ioner do not adhere the guidelines of the Govt Order No 152-PDD of 2011 dated 28-04-2011, which makes a regular monthly meeting mandatory to be held to clear the pending Power Connection Cases.
“The non release of Power Connections in time has resulted into delay in the start of Commercial Production due to which the industrialists have suffered huge financial losses and have to pay interest on the amount borrowed from the Financial Institutes,” the members said.
They said even after the approval of the cases by the Designated Committee, the cases were sent to the Administrative Department for approval when no such guidelines have been issued by the Department as per the said Government Order.
BBIA further said that the file related to the Re-Delegation of Powers to the Designated Officials to minimize the delay in the sanction of Power Connections has not yet been cleared by the department in spite of the assurances given by the Govt from time to time.
BBIA appealed to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister who is also Power Minister of the State, to kindly intervene into the matter and issue the orders for the adoption of ‘Ease of Doing Concept’ at an earliest.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Suresh Mahajan, senior vice president, Varun Singla, vice president, Ajay Langer, general secretary, Vivek Singhal, secretary and Viraaj Malhotra, treasurer BBIA.
